Where Pingdom is the better choice
Real user monitoring is the honest one. Pingdom tells you what your actual visitors experienced, on their connections, in their regions. PulseCheck tells you what our checker experienced. Those are different questions, and if you need the first, we're not a substitute.
Scripted transaction checks are the other. If you need to verify that a five-step signup funnel still completes end to end, Pingdom does that and we don't. So is geographic coverage — if your users are spread across continents and regional latency matters, a global probe network is worth paying for.
Where PulseCheck is the better choice
For most indie projects the question isn't 'what was the 95th percentile latency from Frankfurt'. It's 'is it up, is it slow, and will I find out before a customer emails me'. PulseCheck answers exactly that and stops there, which is the entire pitch.
The clearest practical difference is the free tier. Pingdom gives you 14 days; we give you one monitor indefinitely. You can put your production site on PulseCheck today, pay nothing, and never think about it again unless it breaks — no trial clock, no card on file.
